Chapter Fourteen-Destiny
Trent had been wrecking my last nerves these past few days!
This nigga had been doing the most, showing up at my house every morning at exactly seven thirty. Heaven-Leigh would be sitting in the back, waiting patiently to tell me all that happened from the time she woke up âtil the time they pulled up outside my home. She was beginning to grow on me. She was such a precious and loving child. I saw why Trent loved her so much.
If him picking me up every morning and afternoon wasnât enough, if my phone so much as rang as I sat in his ride, he would grab it from out my hand and answer it! Who did petty, childish shit like that? I couldnât stand his ass.
Thank God that Miguel wasnât around for the past couple days, so I didnât need to worry about him popping up unexpectedly. Trent was still adamant that I needed to have zero interactions with Miguel. I had asked Trent time and time again why he thought I should leave Miguel, and even if I did leave, then what? What was going to happen between us then?
This fool didnât even have a straight answer for me, so why on earth would I go ahead and leave my man?
I had just enough of Trentâs unstable ass, so today, I didnât even bother to go into work. When Trent showed up, blaring his horn outside my house, I came outside in my bathrobe, looking all sorts of terrible.
âWhatâs wrong with you, Destiny?â He eyed me suspiciously, looking at me up and down.
âI donât know. I think Iâm coming down with the flu or something.â I gave a feeble cough, adding emphasis to my bold-face lie.
âOooh, I bet it was Joshua that gave you the flu, Aunty Destiny,â Heaven chimed in from the back seat, blaming one of my students in my class. I nodded my head in agreement, knowing damn well Joshua was innocent.
âI canât make it in today, Trent. Go on ahead and drop Heaven-Leigh off. Iâm going back to bed.â
Trent kept looking at me as if he was wondering whether to believe my lying ass. Eventually, he said he hoped I felt better, and heâd call me later on to see how I was feeling.
I walked back into the house and changed out of my robe and climbed back into bed. Truth be told, Miguel was bringing my car back from the dealership later on that afternoon. And there was no way in hell I was about to tell Trent that he didnât need to get me after school today because my boyfriend was dropping my vehicle off. Trent was all sorts of petty, so no telling what he would have done had I told him that.
I made sure to call Miguel, letting him know I was at home, and he could drop the car off at my place. I laid my ass back on the bed, picked up my remote, and prepared to chill for the rest of the day⦠Trent-free!
âLetâs go to the mall or something.
